Sources of Energy
The sun causes water to evaporate. It falls back down to the ground as rain, sleet or snow. The energy trapped in water stems from the amounts of water that precipitate down onto regions capable of making use of the proportion that flows above ground, as in rivers and lakes.
Potential Energy
This form of energy is included in every drop of water above sea level. Whenever it falls, water does its work, which includes driving turbines, which are connected to generators to produce electric power. The greater the amount of water and drop, the higher the potential energy.
